Maps in the Dark

It is difficult to determine the inside from the outside. It's relative.
And the lines are imaginary.

There are marks on a map.
And we connect the marks.
The marks point to a location.
The location, however, shifts with time.

Our interior refers to a location.
It is experienced differently than the experience of our exterior.
It's connected and changes.

Meditation and contemplation are two different methods to move
between the marks. We learn to pay attention to where we are moving.

Changes in weather influence how we move.
Sometimes slow, sometimes forward, sometimes not at all.

We get lost. We turn around. We read things wrong.
Signposts are missing, we get rushed and miss a turn off.
We ask for directions.

We study the map of the imaginary self.
The lines of condition, of peevish emotions and do
background checks of our history.

We make up a shape and give it a name. We include some stuff and
leave out others. We want to make the shape look good.
It's helpful to know, very helpful to know it's made up. It sometimes
stops us from fighting.
