Spiritual Devotion in the Dark
There is a constancy in the turning towards spiritual devotion.
It's a practice of mutual assistance in selfless affection.
It is a giving as much as a mother's embrace of a child.
Our inner spirit spurs us to run to her. Held, we realize
nothing stands between. We bind in love and rest in
salty brine. We are preserved and aged at any depth
by the licks of heat received.
We are born for devotion. We mature with each encounter
until we face the dearly loved.
Struck towards the single-minded, our yearning ceases
with her below the surface. Find the devoted, the being
in the deeper waters. It is there we grow out of our own
skin.
